The extracts from Saraca indica (soft ext ratio 6:01) is exported by Green Earth Products to many countries. It is a low, erect tree popularly called “Ashoka tree”. It is often cultivated in gardens for its handsome flowers. The bark of the tree is much used for uterine affection and especially in ‘menorrhogia’. The bark contains tannin, catechol, sterol and organic calcium compounds. Its methanol fraction contains haematoxylene, tannin, and water-soluble glycoside.
