Pride of Maratha King Shivaji Maharaj, Sinhagad Fort

Pride of Maratha King Shivaji Maharaj, Sinhagad Fort

30 km from city of Pune, with spectacular view of Khadakwasla dam & villages on the way, comes enigmatic Sinhagad Fort. Enigmatic in the sense that i was looking for  the fort but didn’t realize that i’m already walking inside it. There was no fort as such, only a park, museum and tomb surrounded by fort wall on hill. There were food & tea stalls inside fort premises where i enjoyed Maharashtrian food Pitla Bhakri & Kanda Bhaji which was too spicy for me to eat but tasty. On way back was Tanaji Malusare Samadhi, who was general of Maratha leader Shivaji and fought alongside him. He is known for his martyrdom in Battle of Sinhagad in 1670 A.D. Tanaji was gravely wounded and died fighting on the battlefield. Shivaji renamed Kondhana fort to Sinhagad in memory of Tanaji.

In this film, this was a yellow memorial & tomb marking the place of death of Shreemant Chhatrapati Rajaram Raje Bhosale, who was the younger son of Maratha ruler Chhatrapati Shivaji,  and half-brother of Sambhaji.
