Private carpool in Delhi

We have done a survey in Delhi to understand pain points of people while they commute on daily basis. Most of them seems to be comfortable with public transport but the only stressing point for them was huge crowd in a metro and DTC buses.  Due to stressful day in home and office, people wanted a comfortable commute. They love to travel by public cabs like Uber Pool and OLA, but women are more concerned about their safety during late working hours.  They prefer private carpool instead of cabs with someone known to them. Most of them also suggested to bring cab services with female cab drivers.

Young generation suggested to promote non motorized transport (NMT) like bicycling for short distances like traveling to metro. All metro stations should have facility with rented bicycles. People suggested to bring policies for traffic free zones in Delhi.  Crowded locations like Chandni Chowk, Lajpat Nagar, Lal Quarter, Laxmi Nagar and places running weekly shopping bazaars should not allow any traffic during particular days. There should be a remote parking zones for these areas where daily commuters can park their vehicles.

In addition to these available options, do you think we can do more about making our city traffic free, then feel free to comment below or take sometime to share your idea with us here.

We ran a survey on various online platforms to understand which solution Delhi people want to go with out of the four options shared. Most votes went with option D where large number of women seems to be interested in private carpooling because they feel more safe with that option. Most of young professionals also voted for option C ie: using NMT like bicycles as means of commute.

All these 4 solutions looks more tactical and as per government’s strategy to discourage use of personalized transport and encourage use of public and Non-motorised transport (NMT).

By using these means we can save time, fuel and avoid dangerous road rage events and overall traffic stress.
