Written this poem about my love for butterflies and how it brought a transformation in me.<\/p>\n
You’re adopted the kid shouted,
\nExistence of humanity, i really doubted
\nYour sister is so fair and you are so dark
\nThe world never failed to make this remark<\/p>\n
Spending all pocket money made me feel like a jerk
\nBcoz Beauty masks, fairness creams and powders didn’t really work
\nI didn’t realise when i started developing inferiorities
\nBack then, beauty was my only priority<\/p>\n
Then happened this life altering episode
\nWhich became an important milestone
\nIn biology class we were taught about butterfly’s life cycle
\nNever knew it was going to change my life’s title<\/p>\n
Transformation of an ugly catterpillar
\nTo a gorgeous butterfly
\nThis metamorphisis
\nbecame my favourite past time<\/p>\n
The wings of beauty was all i wanted
\nHowever, the ugly dark skin always haunted
\nOne fine day i took an oath
\nTo unveil the mystery of butterfly’s beauty and growth<\/p>\n
I enquired my gardener for a possible host plant
\nFor which i bothered my all uncles and aunts
\nAnd finally bought a lemon tree
\nWhich luckily had eggs three<\/p>\n
Placed them in a bottle with a tight lid
\nAnd Raised them like my own kid
\nEvery night read them bed time stories
\nStarting From 7 dwarfs to finding dory<\/p>\n
4 days later out came the catterpillar
\nThis was my life’s most amazing thriller
\nLeaves and leaves they ate a lot
\nWanted a perfect summer and weather so hot<\/p>\n
Food and sleep was their hobby
\nTheir names were Sunny, Abhay and Bobby
\nFrom brown to black and finally green
\nThe transformation process was just too serene<\/p>\n
And then one fine day they locked them selves
\nIn their own world in their own shelves
\nMy brother told me its called cocoon
\nHe had seen this in one of the cartoons<\/p>\n
All i did was to pray
\nAs i watched them silently lay
\nNow i was eager to see the end
\nBcoz that was suppose to mend
\nAll the worries all the struggles
\nEverything that became a hurdle<\/p>\n
Out came the butterfly
\nNd with that i was unable to stop my cry
\nRushed to call my neighbours
\nActed as if i have gone through labor<\/p>\n
I claimed to be their mother
\nNd didn’t let it be touched by others
\nHer beauty was just undisputable
\nBut one boy called her black and beautiful<\/p>\n
And that just changed me forever
\nThe fight to look fair and better
\nThe beauty that i was running behind
\nWas the beauty of the dumb and the blind<\/p>\n
Black was no more the color of shame
\nIt too became the color of fame!!
