Finally website can be accessed from intranet

Once long back i configured a website hosting apache server in my home and setup a personal website on the server. I typed localhost and was able to browse my PHP/MySQL based website on that linux server.  Now i configured a static IP in my TCP/IP settings and tried to browse the website with that IP address and got the webpage. After doing so i was keen to know that if people outside my LAN network can browse my website or not. So i typed my public IP and got the router page there. I was in need to make my public IP open my LAN IP address. This was possible by network address translation in the router. I have done that and opened my firewall for WAN to LAN connections for my LAN server. Now after doing that i typed the public ip and was unable to browse my website. I called up my Technical Manager and shared my problem with him. He told me that what i was requiring is NAT loopback feature which my router was not supporting  and he told me that this feature was available in the USG 100  provided by ZyXEL. I was more happy to know that ZyXEL was providing solutions to all the problems i was facing  and i was becoming more knowledgeable day by day. Hats off to ZyXEL Team !

Now getting high speed on WLAN

Accessing FTP server data on LAN network is quite fast when using TCP/IP connection but as i shifted from my wired connection to wireless one, i got afraid of the data rate i was getting while making uploads and downloads from  and to my FTP server located on LAN network. The data speed got reduced and again i was looking for the solution and found WAP-3205 wireless access point which provided me extended wireless speed and coverage. I was getting high speed using wireless usb adaptor on my laptop and again was free to enjoy high data speed by sitting anywhere on my WLAN. I felt that the wireless coverage area has also been extended after using this solution.

Now i can get into my office LAN virtually

I was in a need to get into my office LAN to access my Intranet File Server from my home. Means what i needed was a virtual pc in my office LAN. So i talked to my engineer and he setup SSL VPN account for me on the HO Firewall( ZyWALL ) or gateway. I asked him if i needed to install any SSL client on my laptop but he told me that SSL VPN connection would start from the desktop browser and JAVA applet on my browser will act as a client. He gave me SSL username and password with a link and i entered my username and password and now i got a message on screen displaying assigned LAN ip address setting provided by my gateway DHCP server. I was now one of the LAN users at my HO but actually sitting at my home. He told me that i can also make RDP or remote desktop and VNC server connections through SSL VPN as a client.  What a virtual world ? Great…
