Miyawaki Forest Planted in Tilak Nagar by EcoSikh NGO

Massive forest development and plantation drive was organized by EcoSikh NGO at Shaheed Memorial Park at Tilak Vihar, Tilak Nagar, New Delhi on 16th Nov 2019. 1650 saplings were planted at the location using Miyawaki method. The forest is named as Guru Nanak Sacred Forest.

D. Akira Miyawaki, a botanist and expert in plants ecology invented this unique method of plantation. In Miyawaki method multi-layered saplings are planted close to each other. This blocks sunlight from reaching the ground and prevents weeds from growing, thus keeping the soil moist
